Important: This Is a Two-Step Process
Creating a new administrator in KMx requires TWO separate steps. Both must be completed before the new administrator has the appropriate system permissions.
1Step 1: Create the Administrator Profile
Create a new Member record for the administrator.
The member must have a unique Screen Name.
2Step 2: Assign Administrator Permissions
This critical step must not be missed.
After saving the Member record, you must separately configure the Member Authorization Level.
Creating a Member record alone does not automatically grant administrator access.
Do Not Stop After Creating the Member Once the new Member record has been created and saved, you must continue to Step 2: Setting the Authorization Level.
Important: Existing Learner Profiles If the individual already has a learner profile in KMx, you should still create a separate administrator profile.
This allows the individual to complete training using their existing learner account while performing administrative functions using the newly created administrator account.
Step 1: Creating the Administrator Profile
1
Open the People Administration Area
After logging into the KMx administration area, select the People tab from the navigation menu.
Choose Insert a New Member and click Next.
2
Complete the Member Profile
Complete the required information on the Member Profile page.
Once all required fields have been completed, click Done to save the new Member record.
Important:Your organization's Member Profile page may look different from the example shown below.
The Screen Name must be unique and cannot duplicate an existing account in KMx.
Step 1 Complete - Administrator Setup Is Not Finished! You have now created the new Member record. However, the administrator authorization level has not yet been assigned.
You must now continue to Step 2 to configure administrator permissions.
Step 2: Setting the Authorization Level
Required: Assign Administrator Access The new Member record must be assigned the appropriate authorization level to access KMx administrative functions.
Complete the instructions below after saving the Member Profile.
3
Open Member Administration
From the main administration menu, select the Setup tab.
In the top dropdown menu, select Member Administration and click Next.
Select Review Member Authorization Level and click Next.
4
Locate the New Member
Locate the administrator Member record you created in Step 1.
You can locate the member using either method:
- Click the Search button to find the member.
- Or select the new Member from the available dropdown list.
5
Open the Member Authorization Settings
After selecting the Member, locate the authorization settings section.
Click the Click Here link to change the Member Authorization Level.
6
Assign the Appropriate Authorization Level
Select the appropriate authorization level from the dropdown menu.
Recommended: System Manager For new administrators, the recommended authorization level is System Manager.
This is the preferred starting authorization level for administrators in this guide.
Caution: System Administrator Access System Administrator is the highest authorization level available in KMx.
This level should only be assigned to experienced administrators who require the additional system access.
Do not assign System Administrator access unless it is specifically required and authorized by your organization.
Once the correct authorization level has been selected, click Submit to complete the change.
Administrator Setup CompleteOnce the new Member record has been created and the appropriate authorization level has been assigned, both required setup stages have been completed.
Verify the authorization level and confirm that the new administrator can access the intended administration functions.
